History

From 2013 the Trust will be operating under a new five year strategic plan. This plan has been developed to help ensure that the Trust is funding effectively for the benefit of the Auckland and Northland communities. In order to achieve our new objectives, we will be adopting a new approach to how we fund community organisations over the next five years. We have introduced three funding areas:
People, Places and Participation.
Participation - Recognising the diversity of our communities, we aim to encourage in their communities through participation in artistic, cultural, recreational and sporting activities.

Objectives

The Participating funding area aims to support community organisations working to:
• support the growth and development of recreation and sport by increasing participation and engagement at a community, regional and club level
• support creative projects and organisations that aim to foster access to, engagement with and experience in the Arts
• support projects that recognise and celebrate the diverse cultures of our region.

Projects funded

The priorities for funding in Participation include:
• ensuring access for and encouraging participation and retention of our people in artistic, cultural and recreational and sporting activities
• development of programmes and organisations at critical growth stages
• support for key community partners and lead organisations in the arts, culture and recreation and sports sectors
• collaboration that facilitates shared collective community outcomes
• support for organisations that service rural and remote communities
• initiatives and approaches that improve accessibility of services and encourage participation including awareness raising.
