Eligibility

Who can apply for a grant?
• local not-for-profit organisations such as incorporated societies and registered charities. Find out about incorporated societies on the New Zealand Companies Office site.
• local branches of national not-for-profit organisations.

The funding must go towards an event or initiative that enhances one or more of our communities: Wairarapa, Flaxmere, Feilding, Pahiatua, Rimutaka or Porirua.

History

The Flaxmere Licensing Trust is a charitable trust formed under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957 as an initiative of the Flaxmere Licensing Trust to return dividends back to the Flaxmere community.

Objectives

To support those organisations that provide service in the Flaxmere community, for example:
• community support, including the development and well-being of the young and aged
• cultural activities and recreation, including the performance and promotion of music, the arts, and sport
• welfare and social services, including services for the prevention and/or rehabilitation of addiction.

Projects funded

Specific eligibility criteria.
Organisations that provide:
• community support, including the development and well being of the young and aged.
• cultural activities and recreation, including the performance and development of music, the arts, history and sport.
• welfare and social services for the prevention and/or rehabilitation of addiction, will receive priority.

Excluded projects

• commercial organisations
• projects that are already completed
• individuals (except in the case of those who have achieved New Zealand representative status. In these cases the applicant must:
- reside within the geographical boundary of the Flaxmere Licensing Trust.
- the application must come from an organisation and be accompanied by verification from the NZ parent body).

Activities funded

Most costs/expenses will be considered.

Excluded activities

• prizes
• payment of salaries or wages
• organisations are discouraged from becoming dependent upon grants from this Trust for ongoing operating expenses.

How notified

By letter.

How paid

Successful recipient organisations whose grant totals $5,000 or less will receive payment either with their success notification letter or at a presentation evening in their area. This will depend on the timing of such evenings. Payments may be made by cheque or Direct Credit.

For grants totaling more than $5000, recipients will be advised of their success either by post or at a presentation evening. Payment will be made when administration staff are satisfied than the project is proceeding. This may mean immediate payment in full or payment by way of instalments over a determined period of time.

Conditions of acceptance

Recipient organisations will provide the appropriate accountabilities to prove grant monies have been expended as per the specified project. Any such outstanding information will mean any further applications by the recipient organisation will not be considered until such information is received by the Foundation.

Other information

Generally only one application per year will be considered for each organisation.
