History
Established following amalgamation in 1989 so as to show and monitor grants to the community. Funded by rates.
Objectives
To support the work of community groups and volunteer organisations who are providing community and social projects and services within the Buller district.
Projects funded
The Communities Grants are a general grant with limited criteria,apart from the following:
• Is not available to individuals.
• Align to Council's Community Outcomes.
• Grants will not be made retrospectively.
Successful organisations can apply once per financial year to this fund, 1 July - 30 June.

How to apply
Applications are now closed for the first round of Community Grant funding.
Applications are called for twice a year, with funding decisions made in March and September.
Closing dates for 2017:
The next funding round closes at 4.30pm on Monday 4 September 2017.
Funding from Community Grants is available once per financial year (1 July – 30 June).

Information required with your application
Please ensure that you have completed ALL sections of the application. If information is not provided, it may delay your application.
• two letters of community support for your organisation, signed, dated, and less than six months old, from people not involved or connected in any way with the running of your organisation.
• a copy of you rorganisation's latest annual accounts. If you do not have annual accounts, please attach a statement of income and expenditure for the past 12 months. If neither of these documents are available please xplain why below, and attach a copy of your organisations latest bank account statement/s.

Decision time
Meetings are held at the end of February and August, with outcomes advised early in the following month.
How notified
A letter sent with payment of the grant/donation.
How paid
When granted, payment will be deposited into your nominated bank account. Funds are to be spent within 6 months of receipt of payment.
Conditions of acceptance
Accountability forms are also forwarded and should be completed when the funds are expended and returned to Buller District Council. Applications for organisations with outstanding accountability forms may not be considered until such time as either the accountability forms are received or appropriate explanations received. Council may seek additional accountability measures on individual applications from time to time.
