Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport announces first human growth hormone case in North America - 08 Sep 2010
The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) announced the first case involving an adverse analytical finding for human growth hormone (hGH) in North America. This case follows the first worldwide case involving this substance announced by the UK anti-doping agency in February. (World Anti-doping Agency)

Olympics 2010: at least one in ten athletes were injured in Vancouver - 07 Sep 2010
Research reported in the British Journal of Sports Medicine finds that at least one in 10 athletes sustained an injury during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.  One in 14 also fell ill during the games. (Medical News Today)

Mental fatigue, a common problem affecting many endurance athletes - 10 Sep 2010
While endurance sports such as marathons and triathlons can be extremely physically demanding, there is another aspect of training often overlooked by many athletes: mental training.  Mental fatigue, anxiety, and doubt can cause athletes of all abilities to lose focus and miss their chance at a personal record or simply crossing the finish line. Ulster launches new sports centre safety scheme - 21 Sep 2010
The University of Ulster is the first university in the UK to launch an on-campus initiative to keep children and vulnerable adults safe while using sports facilities. Turf Science Live hailed success in showing new innovation - July 2010
Recently over 100 greenkeepers, turf managers, agronomists and golf club managers attended the first ever Turf Science Live at the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI). Progress on Dunedin’s multi-event venue as RWC nears - September 2010

Attitudes towards commercial recreation on public conservation lands - March 2010
This report presents a 'state of knowledge' review on the attitudes of visitors toward the provision of commercial recreation services on public conservation lands. The report is derived from a literature review, the preliminary findings from a doctoral research project, and a workshop with a focus group of key informants who provided a 'sounding board' for the study’s findings and conclusions. 'Planting the seed’: Family preferences, experiences and benefits associated with outdoor recreation in Aotearoa/New Zealand - September 2010
This study identified a number of features affecting family participation in outdoor recreation in New Zealand. These are grouped under three major themes in this report: Family Life-Stages; Barriers or Constraints to Participation; and Cultural Influences. Childrens' brain development is linked to physical fitness - 15 Sep 2010
