Making the most of the programme

We want you to get the most out of the seminars and workshops and this is best achieved by the attendee and their manager/chair participating in the process.

There are a number of things you can do to make sure you and your organisation benefit from these seminars.  Below are some of the key activities that will support the transfer of learning from seminar to workplace.  We recommend that the ‘before’ and ‘after’ activities be jointly undertaken by the seminar participant and their manager.

Before

  • Determine what your training needs are
  • Identify the most appropriate seminar in terms of your training needs and position within your organisation
  • Put the dates in your diary and register your application online
  • You will be sent a pre-seminar learning contract – use this to discuss and agree up to five learning objectives with your manager

During

  • Focus on achieving the learning objectives you have set for yourself
  • At the end of the seminar/workshop, prepare an action plan of how you will implement the learning back in your organisation

After

  • Implement the action plan, seeking support where needed and sharing knowledge and relevant information with your manager and colleagues
  • Review your progress regularly
