Coach Performance Programme

high performance athletes Behind every great athlete, there is a great coach. Sport New Zealand and High Performance Sport New Zealand are committed to assisting National Sport Organisations attract, develop and retain world class coaches in order for athletes to win on the world stage

National Sport Organisations receiving high performance investment can nominate their very best high performance coaches for the Coach Performance Programme. Coaches will be grouped as either Performance+ or Performance. Here are some of the Performance+ benefits.

Performance

  • Assistance in identifying what will achieve the greatest performance gains from your carded athletes.
  • One-on-one access to specialists who can support your own performance needs (with budget approval).
  • Likely first priority to access and be trained in technology and equipment in the Coach Resource Centres.
  • Access to coach-friendly, cutting-edge research along with assistance to implement new ideas.
  • Support to ensure everyone is clear on your role and accountabilities.

Development

  • Fast track your skills in the Coach Accelerator.
  • A process of collecting feedback to enhance your coaching performance.
  • Generous financial assistance through the Prime Minister’s Coach Scholarship programme to learn from the best in New Zealand and around the globe - you set the project! Scholarships are also available to coaches outside the Coach Performance Programme.
  • Immediate feedback with one-on-one access to discuss coaching effectiveness with Coach Performance Advisor (approximately 50-100 hours per annum).
  • Learn the foundations of world class coaching through the six Critical Performance Modules.
  • Test your thinking with coaches of other sports during seminars and networking opportunities.
  • Leaders are readers! Free (or low cost) access to books and articles from around the world.

  • If you’re not in the programme, contact your National Sport Organisation to get nominated.
  • Once you’re in the programme, contact HPSNZ, Sport NZ’s high performance subsidiary. They deliver all the services listed above and their website will show upcoming seminars, coaching news, information and resources.
