Communities & Clubs
Community sport is important because it’s where every New Zealander has the opportunity to develop a life-long love of sport, and where our future champions are nurtured. The people who play and support sport in our communities are at the heart of everything Sport New Zealand advocates.
Updates
Active communities
Our Active Communities investment is for projects that demonstrate a collaborative approach to increasing participation in sport and physical recreation at a community level.
Coaching
New Zealand has a proud history of sporting excellence. Excellence in sport requires excellence in coaching. Quality coaches have a huge impact on their communities. They spend time with New Zealanders, young and old, and have a positive influence on the lives and values of those they come into contact with.
Volunteers
Volunteers form the backbone of sport and recreation in New Zealand. Please join Sport NZ in saying a huge thanks to your volunteers.
Clubkit
Creating and running a sports or recreation club can be a hugely rewarding experience and it's a great way to get involved with your community. Sport NZ is dedicated to getting New Zealanders moving and your club has a big part to play in this.
Officials
The Sport NZ Official’s area provides resources and information for national sport organisations (NSO’s) and officials to upskill and in the process, develop sustainable levels of officials from the grass roots to elite level.
Pushplay
The Push Play Campaign aimed to inspire New Zealanders to become more active, and to value sport and recreation as integral to their day.
Sports Clubs
At present, Sport NZ does not manage a comprehensive list of sports clubs. We suggest you try directories such as NZ Sport and Sportsground.
